The North America Subtraction Cutting Tour 2010... in pictures and patterns:

Here are a small selection of the many prototype garments knocked out in a few hours flat by the highly talented students, designers and teachers who attended my Subtraction Cutting masterclasses in USA & Canada this summer 2010:

So now lets reverse backwards and look at each venue...
The tour reached the end of the road in Napa California USA, with a Subtraction Cutting Masterclass at the Napa Valley College, followed by a lovely 'Porch Party' hosted by my dear friend Sandy Ericson at the Center For Pattern Design.

After Vancouver we headed south to San Francisco USA for a few days down-time before the next gig...

After Toronto we headed west to Vancouver Canada to first give a Subtraction Cutting lecture to an audience of 150 at Kwantlen University, followed by a masterclass the next day with students, designers and staff.

After New York we headed north to Toronto Canada to give a Subtraction Cutting masterclass at Ryerson University.
Here is a great video documenting the event: http://publish.dvlabs.com/freevi/97162.mp4

and here is Danielle Meder's report on her Final Fashion blog:

There is also a very enjoyable podcast interview i had with Danielle before the event here:

The North America Subtraction Cutting Tour begins in New York City USA, with a masterclass at the Kent State University NYC Studio, and a collaboration with digital textile designer J.R.Campbell.
Here's some good bloggage by one of the participants, Timo Rissanen from Parsons Fashion School NYC:

All garments, video, graphics, websites and text are copyrighted to Julian Roberts (c) 2009. A lot of the images assembled above came from Google or somewhere, and are the copyright of their original owner. But their assembly together is very much my own doing, it's difficult to say really where creative ownership begins & ends, i'm certainly not averse to creative trespass. So no reproduction without permission, unless you're feeling subversive, punk.
